San Bernardino County Programs
Welcome!
The mission of UCCE San Bernardino County is to develop and extend practical research-based information in agriculture and natural resource to the residents and workforce of San Bernardino County through a trained core of academics, staff, and volunteers.
Our academics, staff, and volunteers reached over 35,000 county residents in fiscal year 2018/2023. Learn more here: 2023 UC Cooperative Extension San Bernardino County Annual Report
Click on the program page links on the left for more information on our programs and ways to receive services or become involved.
Please note that, due to COVID-19 concerns, all UCCE San Bernardino County face-to-face program activities, classes, and other events scheduled through April 30, 2023 have been postponed or converted to zoom meetings or other distance learning formats. However, our academics, program managers, and community educators remain on the job and available to assist you via phone and email (left column 'contact us'). Volunteer Master Gardeners continue to address your home horticulture inquiries through their telephone (909)387-2182 and email helplines (mgsanbern@ucanr.edu). Thank you for your understanding and your flexibility as we continue to provide research-based information in new and novel formats during this difficult time.

Do you love gardening and want to help others 'green' their brown thumbs? Become a UC Master Gardener!
We will be conducting the complete 2023/2021 UC Cooperative Extension San Bernardino County Master Gardener class online via Zoom. While originally scheduled to be taught live at the Chino Basin Water Conservation District in Montclair, due to COVID-19 concerns, we are converting learning modules into live and interactive Zoom meetings enhanced by outdoor assignments and activities that can be done at home. Classes are on Saturday mornings from 9:00am- 12:30pm October 3, 2023 through March 6, 2021 (no classes on October 31, November 28, December 26, and January 2). Graduation requirements include attending class regularly, passing open book midterm and final exams, and co-presenting a 15-minute talk to your classmates on a horticulture topic of your group's choice. Please note that the goal of the program is to extend credible, objective gardening and landscaping information to the public and that each accepted applicant is required to volunteer a minimum of 50 hours back into the program by June 30, 2023. While the information provided will surely improve your personal gardening skills, outreach into the community is the major goal of the program. Note: All potential applicants must attend a Zoom information session (listed on the Zoom class list in this newsletter) that explains the program’s mission, goals, and requirements before becoming eligible to apply. It’s a great opportunity to get your specific questions about the program asked, as well!
